Simply the best

Ron Kusse Bait Casting Rods

The Rod Shop in the Catskills.

Note the tight glue joints! There is something special about Split Cane Bait Casting Rods.  They cast as well as graphite and have a feel in the hands that is truly wonderful.

I make four models: one 5 1/2, and three 6 footers.  These rods are available in one piece or ferruled.

In the ferruled version, the butt is two feet long and the tip is four feet long.  On the model 5638, the butt is 1- 1/2 foot long and the tip is four feet.  All rods are available in straw color light cane, or open flamed cane with dark shafts and amber colored nodes.

All rods are swelled butt construction.  Ferruled Models will have the logo "Kusse" in a tiny oval stamped into the nickel silver ferrule.

MODELS:

  • 5638 BC   This rod was the choice of W. W. Clerhew, a famous tournament caster and champion.  He used this rod for both casting contests and tournament bass fishing events.  This 5- 1/2 foot rod casts lures from 1/4 oz. to 5/8 oz. extremely well.

  • 6014 BC   This six-foot light action rod was made famous by H.C. Hollis.  Mr. Hollis was a notable author and fisherman.  HIs specialty was light lines, 2-6 lbs. and light lures 1/8 oz. to 3/8 oz.  With these light lines and lures he set many records for both Bass and Northern Pike.  He also caught more than his share of Muskellunge.  This six-foot rod cast lures from 1/8 oz. to 3/8 oz.

  • 6038 BC   This versatile model is a great medium bait casting rod.  This action and weight has been used by bass fishermen throughout the United States since the 1950's and is now a favorite size and action in the rods I send to Japan.  This six-foot rod casts lures from 1/4 oz. to 5/8 oz.

  • 6058 BC   I was raised in New York State near the St. Lawrence River.  I needed a rod to fish for Bass and Northern Pike.   This is the rod I used when I only took one rod for fishing.  This rod was great for bass of a couple of pounds to northern pike up to 20 lbs.  This rod casts all sizes of lures very well and is sporting for small fish, yet can handle large fish.

All rods come with a poplin bag, aluminum case and Ron Kusse gold and black logo lapel or hat badge.
